Research Pilot Program

Most students admitted to medical school had some research experience on their application (American Medical Association)

Background

Socratic Med's Research Program introduces students to research basics and helps develop analytical and programming skills. Students will apply these skills in a year-long extension and meta-analysis project (pilot program), with findings presented in a written format as a publication and poster at the Socratic Med Annual Virtual Research Symposium.

About Our Pilot Program

Socratic Med's research pilot program is designed to provide students with real-world research experience and the opportunity to publish novel findings. Experienced research mentors teach students as they learn to form hypotheses, analyze results, and draw conclusions.

The first pilot team completed their research reviewing antimicrobial therapies for sepsis treatment and antibiotic resistance. Their paper, Empirical Antimicrobial Therapy Studies to Guide Sepsis Treatment and Minimize Antibiotic Resistance: A Systematic Review (2022), was recently accepted for publication.
