Timothy Olsen

Tim Olsen is the founder and CEO of Socratic Med, a nonprofit with the mission to level the playing field for anyone aspiring to become a medical doctor. As a first-generation college graduate, he realized a wide disparity in guidance and resources exists amongst students pursuing medicine, particularly when preparing for the MCAT.

After scoring in the 95th percentile and graduating summa cum laude from Stony Brook University, Tim started the company to tutor his friends on the MCAT. Demand grew, so he founded it as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to recruit much-needed help from others who share his vision of making medical school accessible to all.

To realize this vision, Tim also pursues dual degrees in medicine (MD) and business (MBA) at the University of Rochester Medical School and Business School. He leverages this unique education in leading the organization’s Board of Directors and Executives, overseeing the organization’s strategic direction, organizational design, company performance, and strategic relationships.
